Editorial Independence

The editorial board of MJCR exercises full independence in editorial decisions. All decisions regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection are based solely on scientific merit, originality, clinical relevance, and ethical standards — free from commercial or political influence.


Editorial Board Responsibilities

The Editorial Board is composed of experienced clinicians and researchers from a wide range of medical specialties. The board is responsible for:

  • Evaluating submitted manuscripts fairly and objectively

  • Ensuring a timely peer-review process

  • Upholding ethical publishing standards

  • Guiding journal development and policy improvements


Conflict of Interest Policy

All authors, reviewers, and editors must disclose any financial or personal relationships that could influence the submitted work. Authors must include a Conflict of Interest Statement in their manuscript. Reviewers and editors must recuse themselves from any manuscript where a conflict exists.


Plagiarism and Academic Integrity

MJCR has zero tolerance for plagiarism or duplicate publication. All submissions are screened using plagiarism detection software (e.g., Turnitin or iThenticate). Manuscripts with significant similarity to previously published work will be rejected.


Ethical Approval and Informed Consent

For case reports involving patients:

  • Ethical approval from an institutional board is required (where applicable)

  • Authors must obtain written informed consent from the patient or legal guardian

  • Identifying patient information must be anonymized or omitted

MJCR follows the guidelines of the ICMJE and COPE regarding research ethics.

Ethics Statements and Publication Policies


1. Conflict of Interest Policy

All authors, reviewers, and editors are required to disclose any potential conflicts of interest that could influence, or appear to influence, the content of the submitted manuscript.

Author Responsibilities:

  • Authors must declare all financial or personal relationships with organizations or individuals that could be perceived as influencing the research.

  • A Conflict of Interest Statement must be included in the manuscript, even if the authors declare no conflict.

Reviewer Responsibilities:

  • Reviewers must disclose any conflicts that could bias their review and recuse themselves if necessary.

Editor Responsibilities:

  • Editors will avoid handling manuscripts where they have a potential conflict and will ensure impartial decision-making.


2. Human and Animal Rights

Research involving human participants:

  • All studies must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki and must have been approved by an Institutional Ethics Committee or equivalent body.

  • Authors must clearly state in the manuscript:

    • That ethical approval was obtained (with reference number or committee name)

    • That informed consent was obtained from participants

Research involving animals:

  • All animal experiments must follow institutional and national guidelines for the care and use of laboratory animals.

  • Authors must include a statement confirming:

    • Ethical approval from a recognized Animal Care Committee

    • Compliance with relevant animal welfare regulations (e.g., ARRIVE, CPCSEA in India)

MJCR reserves the right to reject any manuscript that does not meet ethical guidelines or that lacks sufficient ethical documentation.


3. Informed Consent Policy

For all case reports or clinical images involving identifiable patients:

  • Authors must obtain written informed consent from the patient or legal guardian before submission.

  • The consent form should clearly authorize:

    • Use of clinical information

    • Use of photographs or images

    • Publication in an open-access medical journal

MJCR requires authors to retain the original signed consent and be prepared to provide it upon editorial request. The journal does not require submission of the form unless specifically requested.

All efforts should be made to protect patient identity, and no identifying information should be included unless essential and consented.
